Buddhist Offerings 3 - Meaning and Reflection

INCENSE
* Just as incense emits a fragrant smoke, so too our good deeds and aspirations will emit pleasant vibrations.
* Three burning joss sticks can symbolize the burning away of our three mental poisons : GREED, HATRED and DELUSION. As we take Refuge in the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, we make the aspiration and determination to walk The Path to remove our greed, hatred and delusion.
* The burning joss or the smouldering incense makes us reflect on the IMPERMANENCE, UNSATISFACTORINESS and SOULLESSNESS of our existence.
* As we offer the incense to the Buddha, let us make the strong aspiration:
" MAY MY MIND, SPEECH and BODY BE PURE."
