How Rich Are You?

How Rich Are You?
One day a rich father took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night on the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, "How was the trip?""Very good Dad!""Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked."Yeah!" "And what did you learn?"The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon."When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless. His son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are!"

* Much joy, peace and happiness can come from simple living ... being more with Nature.
* Material wealth and possessions do not guarantee happiness and peace of mind. One may be rich ( in economic terms ) but yet is spiritually poor - his mind is unsettled, in frequent states of greed, wanting more and more ... his mind is prone to anguish and frustration, anger, jealousy, illwill, suspicion; he lives in states of constant anxiety, insecurity, suffering attachment and fear ( of losing what he 'has or owns' ).
* The so-called 'poor' may be spiritually rich ... with his basic requisites met ( sufficient food, a shelter, sufficient clothes and good states of health ) , his mind is peaceful and content ... he is more free from anger, greed, frustration, illwill, anxiety and other suffering mental states ... he shares and cares more ... his mind has a greater degree of 'peaceful acceptance' and 'letting go' ...
* When will we realize that the true Path to happiness, peace and freedom our is none other than The Noble Eightfold Path of
