To spread the Light of Dhamma for the peace and true happiness of one and all
The Objectives of PBHP
· Promoting Buddhist Teachings to the Buddhist Community
· Providing moral education for children and youths
· Rendering educational, welfare and community services
Brief Background of Persatuan Buddhist Hilir Perak
In 1986, a group of Buddhists in Teluk Intan realized the need to set up a Dhamma Centre to promote the sublime Teachings of the Buddha. A pro-tem committee under the leadership of Bro. Chay Seng Fah was set up in November 1986. Persatuan Buddhist Hilir Perak was officially registered on 28 August 1987. From 1986 to October 1994, the Dhamma activities were held in members’ homes and rented premises. In November 1994 PBHP moved to its own main building at Jalan Jawa, Teluk Intan. In the year 2000, PBHP bought an adjacent plot of land with an existing old wooden single-storey semi-detached building. This additional building was used for a couple of years to cope with the increasing number of Buddhist Sunday School classes and other Buddhist activities. In 2002, the old wooden building was demolished and work started on the new 3-Storey building of PBHP. In January 2005, use of the new building started. On 1 January 2007, the new Dhammacakka Building was officially opened by Dato’ Mah Siew Keong. On this day also, PBHP celebrated its 20th Anniversary.
