The Buddha Says 19 ...

By degrees, little by little, from time to time, a wise person should remove his own impurities, as a smith removes the dross of silver.
Dhammapada Ch. 18 Verse 239
Reflection
* A foolish and ignorant man would live a life with little or no effort made to develop and purify his mind ... the body grows but the mind grows not.
* One would have lived a meaningful life as a human being if effort is made to remove the mental defilements of GREED, ANGER and EGOISM.
* The 'little devils' of the mind should be diminished or eradicated viz:
Lust, Unwholesome desire, attachment, craving, illwill, aversion, enmity, jealousy, revenge, hatred, selfishness, conceit, pride, and delusion.
* The way to remove one's impurities is to practice sincerely and ardently :
DANA ( Charity, Generosity, Helpfulness, Service ... )
SILA ( Training Rules of Morality ... being kind to oneself and others; not harming oneself and others )
BHAVANA ( Mental development through chanting, meditation, sutta study and Dhamma Reflection. )
