When you would know for yourselves, that "these things are unhealthy, these things, when entered upon and undertaken, incline toward harm and suffering" - then you should reject them. But when you know for yourself, that "these things are healthy, these things, when entered upon and undertaken, incline toward welfare and happiness" - then having come to them you should stay with them."

* Things are not truthful and not good when
1. they have their roots in greed/anger/illwill/enmity/jealousy/aversion/revenge/hatred/cruelty/delusion/egoism/conceit
2. they cause harm/pain/suffering/sorrow to oneself/others
3. they tend to increase one's greed/attachment/craving/anger/hatred/delusion/ego.
* Things are truthful and good when
1. they have their roots in generosity/charity/helpfulness/loving-kindness/compassion/wisdom/sense of selflessness/clarity of mind
2. they bring about safety/happiness/joy/peace/harmony/freedom/non-attachment/calmness/equnimity in oneself/others
3. they tend to increase one's generosity/'sense of letting go'/loving-kindness/peace/joy/wisdom/ sense of selfless service to others.
