The Perfect Son
Mrs. Lim : I have the perfect son.
Mrs. Tan : Does he ever smoke?
Mrs. Lim : No, he doesn’t.
Mrs. Tan : Does he drink any liquor?
Mrs. Lim : No, he doesn’t.
Mrs. Tan : Does he ever come home late at night?
Mrs. Lim : No, he doesn’t.
Mrs. Tan : Well, I guess you really do have the perfect son. Where
does he work?
Mrs. Lim : He’s too young to work yet. He will be six months old in
a week’s time.
REFLECTION
Oftentimes we form opinions or draw conclusions based on invalid or wrong assumptions. The Truth is hidden and conflict between people can arise because of assumptions. It is only by mind training that we can begin to understand the actual state of things.
